This Stephen Lawrence Day, Neighbourhood Watch is proud to stand with communities across the country honouring the memory of Stephen Lawrence and taking action to make our streets safer for everyone.

Stephen Lawrence Day, observed every year on 22 April, marks the anniversary of Stephen's murder in 1993. It is a day of reflection, education, and renewed commitment to building a more just and equal society. This year, Neighbourhood Watch is marking the occasion by hosting a special webinar on knife crime, delivered in partnership with the Ben Kinsella Trust, one of the UK's leading charities dedicated to knife crime prevention and education.

Together we can make a difference

Knife crime continues to devastate families and communities across the UK. Behind every statistic is a life lost, a family shattered, and a community left grieving. Both Stephen Lawrence Day and the work of the Ben Kinsella Trust remind us that this is not an abstract issue, it is one that demands urgent, collective action.

Neighbourhood Watch is proud to be part of the joint national effort to halve knife crime, an ambitious but vital goal that requires every part of society to play its role. From schools and youth organisations to community groups and residents, we all have a part to play in creating environments where young people feel safe, valued, and supported.

Every future needs a foundation

Neighbourhood Watch has always believed in the power of communities coming together. Stephen Lawrence Day is a powerful reminder of why that work matters, and of the cost of inaction.

By partnering with the Ben Kinsella Trust, we are sending a clear message: our communities will not tolerate violence, and we will work tirelessly to protect the young people in them.
