This category celebrates volunteers who support their neighbours to be stronger, more resilient, and safer by raising awareness of crime prevention. It is for people who might have done something different to help prevent crime in their communities, and to help people feel safer. This could be working with youth groups, supporting vulnerable people to be more aware of crime, developing inventive ways to reduce crime or a fear of crime in the community.
Winner: Andrew Burton, West Yorkshire
Following a series of burglaries that left residents feeling vulnerable, our winner inspired the community to come together.
By establishing a network for neighbours to share information, report suspicious activity and support one another, they helped restore confidence, deter further crime and strengthen community resilience.
Their outstanding leadership transformed a time of uncertainty into a safer, more connected neighbourhood, encouraging greater involvement in Neighbourhood Watch and leaving a lasting positive impact on the community.
