This category celebrates the innovative way a volunteer brings communities together, and encourages more people to join together and engage with Neighbourhood Watch in their communities. This might be a coordinator who has overcome challenges or used unique and innovative ways to encourage others to join Neighbourhood Watch, perhaps those who traditionally might not have joined.
Winner: Louise Barton – Staffordshire
Our winner received two nominations, recognising their exceptional dedication to their community. Despite facing recent health challenges, they quickly returned to supporting local residents, working alongside the local PCSO to take Neighbourhood Watch directly into the community through street events and engagement activities.
In just 12 months as a Coordinator, they have recruited over 500 members and helped establish 20 new Neighbourhood Watch schemes. Through regular community meetings, Cuppa with a Copper sessions and Ditch the Blade walks, they have brought people together, strengthened community confidence and helped make Penkridge a safer place for everyone.
